About the Exhibition
Savage / Wonder, our eponymous exhibition, brings our Beacon-based art center directly to the heart of NYC, showcasing sixteen exceptional veteran and veteran-adjacent artists. This two-month show offers a powerful presentation of work that is at once intimate, absurd, whimsical, and surprising. It stands as a nuanced exploration of abstract, palpable worlds. Crucially, it is neither art therapy nor a collection of war stories; rather, it is compelling art where distinctive thematic, material, and conceptual approaches work to heighten the viewer’s senses.
Our Mission: Savage Wonderground
Savage Wonderground’s mission is to invigorate the American art world by highlighting visual artists who have served in the military, been first responders, or are immediate family members. By providing a platform for these under-represented artists, the gallery aims to mentor, nurture, and elevate their careers while offering audiences artistic perspectives shaped by lives of service.
