After a two-year hiatus, scene study is back!
Building on the acclaimed acting classes offered by Veterans Repertory Theater in 2022–2023, Savage Wonder Scene Study is a new, focused training experience under the direction of Savage Wonder founding artistic director Christopher Paul Meyer.
Details,
- Dates: Sundays, July 20 – August 31 (6 weeks)
- Time: 3–5 p.m.
- Location: Savage Wonder Studios, Beacon, NY
- Tuition: $300 per person (first 6-week session)
- Future sessions: 4 weeks / $250
What to Expect,
This is a scene-study class—actors will come to class having prepared a scene in advance and will work on their feet, performing in front of Meyer and fellow students. Each session includes:
- Scene work and performance feedback
- Targeted notes on character, objectives, listening, emotional truth, beats, and stakes
- Occasional acting exercises drawn from Stanislavski, Meisner, and improvisational techniques to sharpen instincts and deepen work
While all skill levels are welcome, this is a serious studio environment. Actors are expected to:
- Come memorized and scene-ready
- Respect their scene partners and take feedback constructively
- Prepare outside of class and treat the work professionally
Participants must come scene-ready, with memorized work prepared to dive deep. This isn’t community theater—it’s a professional-level actor’s studio, drawing on the successful format developed for veteran-focused repertory work two years ago.
